Pyx Lax (Greek: Πυξ Λαξ) are widely considered the most influential and commercially successful rock band in Greek music history. Formed in Athens in 1988 by Filippos Pliatsikas, Babis Stokas, Sakis Stamoulis, and Panayiotis Spyropoulos, the band began their career with a demo cassette that caught the attention of record labels and producer Manos Xydous, who soon joined the group. Their debut album, Ti Allo Na Pis Pio Apla, was released in 1990, laying the foundation for their unique fusion of rock, entechno, and traditional Greek elements.

Their breakthrough came with 1993’s O Ilios tou Chimona Me Melancholi, and they confirmed their status with Gia Tous Prinkipes Tis Dytikis Ochthis (1994), an ode to the working-class neighborhoods of western Athens. With poetic lyrics and emotional depth, Pyx Lax released a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums, including Stilvi (1998) and Yparchoun Chrysopsara Edo? (1999), earning multiple gold and platinum certifications.

Known for timeless hits like “De Tha Dakryso Pia Gia Sena”, “Monaxia Mou Ola”, and “I Palies Agapes Pane Ston Paradeiso”, the band also collaborated with major international artists such as Sting, Eric Burdon, Marc Almond, and Gordon Gano. Their final studio album before disbanding, Charoumeni Stin Poli Ton Trelon (2003), featured several English-language tracks and marked their experimental peak.

After disbanding in 2004, they reunited in 2011 for a massive national tour in memory of Manos Xydous, drawing over 85,000 fans to the Athens Olympic Stadium. That same summer, they also performed at the Kaftanzoglio Stadium in Thessaloniki, attracting over 50,000 people—another landmark show that underscored their nationwide impact and the deep connection with the co-capital.

In 2018, Pyx Lax reunited permanently and are currently signed to Stay Independent, through which they released their latest album Ligo Chroma Gia ta Skoura. The album has been met with critical acclaim and strong audience reception, proving that Pyx Lax continue to evolve while staying true to their roots. More than three decades on, they remain a beloved and timeless band in Greek music.
