Eisvoleas is one of the most legendary and respected figures in the Greek hip-hop scene. With a career spanning over two decades, he has shaped a uniquely Greek expression of hip-hop — raw, streetwise, and deeply rooted in local tradition.
He began his musical journey at age 16, inspired by American hip-hop, blending samples with storytelling and gradually incorporating traditional Greek sounds.
He first gained attention through group projects: in 1997, he co-founded Alfa Gama (Άγνωστοι Γνωστοί), releasing Neoellina Akou (2000) and Agnostophobia (2001), albums that captured the energy of the underground scene. He was also part of Skoteini Plevra, releasing Polemistes Zois (2007), a record that quickly gained cult status for its depth and lyrical strength.
In 2003, he teamed up with Taki Tsan, forming Tigre Sporakia, a more playful and experimental duo mixing funk, humor, and philosophy. Albums like Theoria Kai Praksi (2003) and Onoma Kai Pragma (2011) showcased their versatility and innovative approach.
Eisvoleas launched his solo career with Mono Agapi in 2004, followed by a string of albums, building a lasting solo identity within the Greek rap scene.
A turning point came with the 2010 album Gege, where Eisvoleas experimented with a unique approach by blending hip-hop with rebetiko and traditional Greek elements like bouzouki and baglamas, calling it “rap-betiko.”
The 2012 album O Mythos Katarreei, produced with beatmaker Eversor, deepened his socially conscious direction. He often speaks about injustice, hypocrisy, oppression, and class division — themes central to the urban Greek experience.
His lyrics are direct, filled with imagery from everyday Greece: struggling neighborhoods, crowded buses, and the contradictions of modern Greek reality. At the same time, he explores themes of love, heartbreak, passion, and relationships — with both realism and tenderness.
Eisvoleas also formed Eisvoleas & The Tedd’s, a nine-piece live band combining traditional instruments, horns, modern rhythm sections, and DJ elements.
What sets Eisvoleas apart is his ability to bridge genres, generations, and realities. His music fuses Greek identity with hip-hop attitude, weaving together rebetiko spirit, folk traditions, and urban storytelling.
